John Halstead

Supervising Technical Director at Pixar

At Pixar since 2000, John modeled sets and did articulation and effects on Oscar-winner Finding Nemo, was technical lead for sets on the Golden Globe-winner Cars, and sets supervisor on Up and Cars 2. He was the supervising technical director on Disney-Pixar’s 2016 feature, Finding Dory, and recently completed work as the supervising technical director on Coco VR.

This talk begins with a high-level overview of the current state of mobile AR development in Unity. We will discuss and demonstrate the features we are implementing in Unity 2018, which establish a foundation for multi-platform, natively integrated AR apps. Join us to learn how Unity helps you solve the challenges inherent in AR development.

Jimmy Alamparambil

Senior Mobile Engineer at Unity 

Jimmy's career as a game developer spanned various companies like Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Jam City and Topgolf. He worked on franchises like Medal of Honor, GoldenEye, C&C, CSI, NCIS, Spartacus, Tetris, Just Dance, Rocksmith, Petz, Imagine, and others. He finally found his way into the Emergent Technology team at Unity and leverages his previous experiences on various game teams and in various roles to make the developer experience smooth and rewarding when using Unity. He is currently working with Unity's XR   team to make mobile AR developers successful.

Tim Mowrer

Senior Virtual Reality Engineer at Unity.

At Unity, Tim worked closely with Google to integrate ARCore and co-authored the ARInterface multi-platform AR toolkit. Previously, Tim worked for several years at Havok, helping AAA game teams make the best use of physics in their games. After a couple of years as an engine programmer at Linden Lab, enabling shared VR experiences in Sansar, and founding a DIY microcontroller startup, Tim is now helping shape the future of AR at Unity.
